Week One: And We’re Just Getting Started! 🚀 A special thanks to Truck Centers for once again hosting Gateway CEO in their beautiful training center facility.
We wrapped up our first week of Gateway CEO today and while today may have been filled with a lot of the little details, these are the details that become BIG things as we move through the year.
We made sure everyone has access to our Google Calendar so students can stay connected to site visits, speakers, and our weekly schedule. We also completed the Pre-Impact Survey through Midland Institute, giving us a starting point to measure where our students are today and, later, reflect on the impact Gateway CEO has had on them. DISC was introduced briefly to capture everyone's profiles and we will dive into each person's natural and adaptive style as they learn how to really work together as a team.
We also went back to something we began talking about yesterday: The WOW Factor.
For our students, the WOW Factor is so much more than a hand shake. It is learning how to:
✨ Make a strong first impression
🤝 Be engaged and present with guest speakers
❓ Ask thoughtful questions—and know which questions to ask
🏢 Help create a culture built on trust and respect
💯 Take responsibility for our actions
🌱 Step outside our comfort zones
💪 Learn from failure—and, most importantly, auto-correct and keep moving forward
And then…we gave them a little teaser about their Badge Business. 👀
We started talking about brand awareness and how this group can professionally represent themselves—and Gateway CEO—when they're out in the community and networking with business leaders.
And you could see the wheels starting to turn. 💡
What should their badge/branded wear look like?
How can they create something that represents them as a class?
How can they provide value to potential sponsors?
How will they produce it?
And ultimately…what steps do we need to take to get from an idea to something real?
This conversation is going to grow in the coming weeks. Leaders will rise up. Obstacles will be overcome. Hands on learning will be at work.

There is SO much ahead for this group, and I couldn't be more excited to watch them learn, grow, challenge themselves, and discover what they are capable of.
