Gateway CEO welcomed Lisa Phillipson with Hospice of Southern Illinois. Lisa always brings energy and passion to our conversations. She brings real life too! Lisa's upbringing was challenging and yet she elected to keep overcoming in all of her adult life. As much as we learned about the needs that Hospice care meets as family members and their loves ones lives are turned upside down, we had some perspectives shared by Lisa that will stay with our students as they journey their path in life. Here are a few really insightful takeaways for students.
- Hospice care comes in when one is sick, yet they still care about things. Hospice provide medical care along with spiritual and social support.
- Save your money. Start today. As you get older, you will want to work because you want to, not because you have to.
- When you are with your loved ones. Be present.
- Find a job that you love and are passionate about. Don't be afraid to try something new. Life is not a dress rehearsal!
- Discover what you stand for and determine the values that are most important to you.
- People will hear what you say when they see what you do.
Thank you Lisa for pouring into our students!
