Ashleigh Deatherage, VP of HR - Culture and Engagement at Scott Credit Union welcomed students to their headquarters last week. This was a perfect way to end the week learning so much about the journey Ashleigh has had starting in an entry level role in Marketing and moving throughout the organization to the VP of HR today.
During Ashleigh's 20+ year career at Scott Credit Union, she has grown right along with the expansion, originating at Scott Air Force base and now stretching throughout two states and as far north as Chicago. From less than 100 employees to 350 and significant changes in total assets for the business. Ashleigh has consistently been offered opportunity to learn and grow through each role, often taking on more responsibility with each transition. Even when faced with a medical setback, Ashleigh endured and kept positive knowing this was not something that would stop her for going to the next level.
As part of the benefits provided by Scott Credit Union, Ashleigh pursued an MBA that was paid for by her employer. When she began taking courses that covered Human Resources, she saw how each position had led her to a place to step into the current role in HR. With so much competition and change in the work place since COVID, this area is so important to the vitality of their employees. The people is what represents the strength of any company.
Ashleigh encouraged students to always lean into new roles and help resolve the needs within the organization.
Thank you so much to Ashleigh for sharing a view of corporate life that is right in our backyards!! We appreciate you.
